Rural Communty Action Ministry

The Rural Community Action Ministry homelessness prevention programs including housing repair and building affordable homes.  Outreach Program provides services to prevent homelessness and increasing self-sufficiency, offers an emergency shelter for homeless families.  Hunger Prevention Program includes support for 15 food banks and a Gardening Program to teach people how to grow their own food.  Other programs address Migrant Health, Rural Youth and Faith in Action for elderly and disabled.  

Mission:

The Rural Community Action Ministry reaches out to people of rural Maine who are in need and assists them to help them- selves.   RCAM works with people to meet their needs for safe and adequate shelter, clothing, food and basic well-being in a manner that maintains or improves their self-worth and dignity.
